A rare Derby porcelain sauce tureen c.1785. Painted in coloured enamels by Edward Withers with a spray of flowers and leaves, the pale lilac ground border with gilt line and dentil bands. Crowned crossed batons mark in puce and pattern number 219. Number 4 in puce for the gilder William Yates.

According to the Old Derby Pattern Books, pattern 219 is described as follows: 'Gilt dentil edge, below which is a border of uncertain ground colour some what curiously described as ' Distance for Hills 1189'. Centre painted in Handsome Groop of flowers by Withers.'

Condition: A small amount of wear to the gilding in places
