A superb Chamberlain Worcester porcelain basket c.1840. Encrusted with beautifully modelled seashells seaweed and coral. The centre of the tray superbly painted with an salmon ground and with seaweed gilding framing a central panel painted with a castle in a landscape.
Unmarked. A similar shape basket is illustrated on page 166 of Godden's book on Chamberlain Worcester Porcelains
Condition:A long restored crack to the left side of the basket. Bottom left lobe restored. Top right and bottom right lobes restored. All restoration to a professional standard.
Handle intact and no notable losses to the applied work. Slight wear to the gilding on the handle. All other gilding and enamels in good order.
