A Spode porcelain 'Slipper' Inkwell c.1824. Finely decorated in pattern 3993 with a crimson groundand raised gilding - a technique known as 'raised and cut up'. This enabled texture and detail to be added to the elegant and sumptuous gilding. The 'sole' has also been painted to look like leather. Marked in the paint Spode and pattern 3993.
Condition: Hairline crack through the front of the slipper to the inkwell
