A Charles Meigh relief moulded jug in stoneware.
This jug is the "Bacchanalian Dance" design which shows adapted scenes from on one side a painting by Nicholas Poussin ("Bacchanalian Revel Before a Herm of Pan") and on the other a painting by Sir Peter Paul Rubens ("Drunken Silenus").
This stunning piece has incredibly detailed crisp moulding.
Marked on the base "Sept 30 1844 Registr'd No. 21960 Charles Meigh" and with a diamond registration mark.
