It is decorated on both sides with a black transfer decoration with red & yellow overglaze enamels and silver lustre.

The banner on the front reads: “BE THAT BY THE PLOUGH WOULD THRIVE HIMSELF MUST EITHER  HOLD OR STRIVE - INDUSTRY PRODUCETH WEALTH” 

The reverse banner reads: ''THE FARMERS CREED - LET THIS BE TOLD THE FARMERS CREEED, FOR STOCK SEEK OUT THE CHOICEST BREED, IN PEACE AND PLENTY LET THEM FEED, YOUR LAND SOW WITH THE BEST OF SEED, LET IT NOT DUNG OR DRESSING NEED, INCLOSE AND DRAIN IT WITH ALL SPEED AND YOU WILL SOON BE RICH INDEED.
