A rare Spode porcelain butterfly handle cabinet cup c.1815-1820. It is hand painted with flowers over the yellow ground and has a butterfly handle. The design is referenced as 'fly handle cabinet cup'. It has a carefully hand painted mark to the base in black (mark 11 - Leonard Whitter). A cup (with saucer) of the same body shape but different decoration can be found in the Victoria & Albert museum, London, accession number C.720&A-1935.
These examples are now extremely scarce and rarely found on the open market.
Condition: Some gilt wear to the rim, foot rim and handle edges etc.
