A fine and large Derby porcelain tankard of tapering cylindrical form c.1780-1784 with moulded bands at the top and the bottom. Decorated with a monogram to the front in gilt with the letters 'WEJ', a blue band to the top with gilt leaves, the sides of the tankard are decorated with  flowers and leaves in various colours in the manner of Edward Withers. Puce crown, crossed batons, dots over D. William Duesbury. Also number 5 in blue for the ground layer, 1 in puce for the gilder Thomas Soare and number 9 for the flower decoration by Edward Withers? 

Height 14.5 cm. 

Condition: Hairline crack to the rim above the top of the handle and extends just below the top terminal of the handle. Some rubbing to the gilding.
