Dimensions:
A tall Chamberlain Worcester French-styled porcelain vase c.1825 decorated with a rich claret ground colour. Very finely painted with a view of Alnwick Castle surrounded by a raised gold border. Moulded Dolphin handles with accentuated gilt decoration. Mounted on a marble base and fixed with a brass bolt and nut. I have seen the underside of the vase with the marble base off and there are no signs that there was ever an original porcelain base. I would therefore assume that the marble base is perhaps a one off commission for a Customer. Unmarked.
Condition: Some professional restoration to a small area of the soccle.
A similar shape vase is illustrated on page 301 of Geoffrey Godden's excellent book on Chamberlain-Worcester Porcelain 1788-1852.
