A First Period Worcester 'Lord Henry Thynne' Pattern c.1775. The cylindrical shaped jug with loop handle, finely painted with a cottage by a lake within a gilt oval and blue husk panel between butterflies and sprays of fruit, between blue-ground borders gilt with scrolls. Unmarked.

For a discussion of this pattern with relevant images see: The Marshall Collection of Worcester Porcelain in the Ashmolean Museum Volume 2, Sword Rosalind, page 428, No 710 and page 710, lower plate for a coffee cup and saucer with same decoration. There is uncertainty as to whether this pattern relates to either the second son (1797-1834) of the 2nd Marquess of Bath(1765-1837) who died in 1904. Evidently one dessert service of this pattern belonged to the Thynne family but was by no means a unique production.

Condition: Very fine star crack to the base. Slight wear to the gilding around the rim. A few small surface scratches to the painted panel on the front.
