A Grainger Lee & Co Worcester Armorial Porcelain Dessert Dish c.1825. The rectangular shaped dish with distinctive pierced handles at each end, with a gilded gadrooned edge, finely decorated with a cobalt blue ground and gilding, the central well decorated with a finely executed armorial crest with a latin motto ''nous persons''. This was possibly made for the Venables family, barons Kinderton of Cheshire

The description of the crest is quite extraordinary-a wyvern on a fish weir pierced through the neck and devouring a child!

Retailer mark ''Pellats & Green, London.''

See page 83 plate 62 of John Sandon's book on Grainger's Worcester for a similar shape dessert dish.

Condition: Excellent with just some very slight wear to the gilding
