A rare Chamberlain Worcester porcelain Sultan's Plate c.1835

A rare and unique Chamberlain Worcester porcelain plate decorated in the ''Sultan's'' pattern c.1835. Made for the Ottoman Court of Sultan Mahmud II who reigned from 1808-1839. The plate has a slightly inverted rim with beaded, cusped rim, decorated in polychrome and gilt, the centre with depicting a breast star of the Imperial Ottoman Order of the Crescent within a floriated gilt border, the rim with a frieze of jewelled cartouches, each containing a floral spray reserved on a royal-blue ground.
