A John Rose Coalport Porcelain Plate with Neoclassical Decoration c.1805. The central well decorated with a black-and-white radiating geometric starburst, enclosed by a circular garland of finely hand-painted garden flowers, including roses and pansies. The outer border features alternating lozenge and circular reserves depicting vibrant red flowers on dark grounds, framed by scrolling purple, blue, and gold foliate flourishes. The highly complex, refined Neoclassical decoration matches patterns known to have been decorated in London studios, particularly associated with the independent workshop of artist Thomas Baxter.
