A rare and early Davenport shield shaped vase in hybrid hard-paste porcelain c.1807-1812. Of shield shape with ring handles, the main body enamelled with a chocolate brown ground reserving a large panel of distinctive flower painting by Thomas Steel, the foot, shoulder and cover with yellow ground.

Condition: Some wear to the gilding and a small amount of flaking to the chocolate ground. Minor chip to the finial on the lid and the a very small chip to the inside of the lid.
