A rare Wedgwood Bone China Plate c.1815. The central reserve, very finely painted with a 'Common Tern', the border decorated with 3 groups of naturalistically painted feathers.
Previously this style of painting has been attributed to the artist Aaron Steele, owing to an annotation in the Wedgwood pattern books in the 1900's by the then Wedgwood Curator, however this attribution is now thought to be incorrect.
Printed Wedgwood mark in red along with subject title in puce script.
Condition: Very good with just some light surface wear and a tiny chip to the footrim. A little wear to the gilding around the rim.
