A finely painted English porcelain bowl in the Chinese Mandarin style

A very finely painted English porcelain bowl in the Chinese Qianlong style c.1800. Of hybrid hard-paste porcelain, decorated in famille rose enamels, the exterior painted with two large, alternating with two smaller, cartouche reserves depicting scenes of an affluent  Mandarin family at leisure in their garden pavilion and terraces, each reserve framed in elaborate scrolling foliate border, green artemisia leaves, each reserve separated by a textile pattern ground of Bishamon Kikko in iron red, the interior painted with a frieze of elaborate brocades and floral drops headed by a beaded border under the rim with gilding, the centre of the bowl decorated with a heraldic crest and the motto in Latin ‘’Nunquam Non Paratus’’  which translates in English as ‘’Never unprepared’’ 

A very rare and interesting example of an English factory, possibly Miles Mason, copying Chinese export wares. I have also previously had pieces in this same style that were made at Coalport in around 1800.

Condition: Slight crack to the base and a little flaking to the enamel decoration. Some wear to the gilding around the rim and the decoration to the centre of the bowl.
