A rare Spode porcelain coffee can c.1812. Of Bute shape, bat printed in gold with a figure in a landscape using Warburton's Patent. This example is unmarked.
In 1810, Peter Warburton of the New Hall Company, took out a Patent for printing landscapes and other designs from copper plates in gold and platinum, upon pottery and porcelain. This technique of bat printing was then employed by Spode c.1811.
